Who this visa fits
Subclass 858 Global Talent is the legacy pathway that pre-dates the current Distinguished Talent stream under Subclass 124. If a candidate has an existing 858 case or was nominated under the 858 framework, it remains a valid route β but new self-petitioned distinguished talent cases should be filed under 124. In the narrative, always recommend 124 as the active forward-going option and note 858 only if the candidate specifically has a prior 858 nomination or case reference. Do not discourage 858 applicants already in the pipeline β just ensure new applicants are directed to 124 instead.
